Traditional Brewing with Ecologically Sustainable Techniques

In the southeast corner of Germany, in the region called Upper Bavaria, is the Chiemgau. And in the town of Stein an der Traun, underneath the cliff castle can be found the castle brewery Steiner Brauerei. Since 1489, this castle brewery has been making high-quality beer, while using ecological sustainable means. In Bavaria beer must be brewed to the “Reinheitsbegot”, a 500 + year purity law:  Water, Hops, and Grain. Bavaria also gets much of its energy from sustainable means with an emphasis on renewable energy. The Steiner Brewery combines traditional brewing with ecologically sustainable techniques. Its unique relationship to the local community and respect to the environment make for an interesting story. More coming soon…
